Twitter Sites: 7/7
1. So we all know how dangerous it is to play on your phone while driving. Twitter doesn’t help that cause much. I know I spend a little too much time on Twitter, lately jamming to MJ has helped me steer clear. But now there’s a site that will let you Tweet, hands off. It’s called TwitterFone. You sign up and when you want to Tweet, you call and record your Tweet and it’ll be updated. You can also listen to others Tweets, reply or DM them. Seems like a cool concept, let me know if you try it and like it.. or not.
2. TweetLateris a site that takes Twitter to the next level for you. And it gives you a couple of options. You can do the free route or the professional route that will cost you some cash. Some of the things you can do on here is schedule a tweet to send later (I’d like to think I wouldn’t use this, but I always forget to do a 10pm news tease. I could use it when I’m thinking about it), you can track the number of clicks you get on links, follow and unfollow new and old friends and you can use all of this on many accounts. That’s just the free stuff. For the pay to play options, you can … well, there’s really nothing on there I think I would use. It’s a lot to do with Auto DMs and filtering and blah, blah, blah. But I’m sure its good for some.
3. I know I added a Twitter poll like site before, but here’s another one. It’s call twtpoll. I have never really seen use for a poll, I may start adding them and doing some stories about them on our nightly Twitter segment, but when I looked at the most popular ones, I see how they can be used. Yahoo! News did one about Sarah Palin. I guess I never thought big names would use these. Pretty cool.
4. Twitterholic has potential if you like numbers, and you can get it to work. I’ve tried it a couple of times in the last week, and nada. I got it to work back in March, but since then, it’s been a bust. It tells you where you rank on Twitter by followers. We all know @aplusk is first blah, blah… but the first page shows you the top 100 users. When you put in your name, it’ll tell you how many followers/followings you have, where you rank worldwide and where you rank in your area (or the city/state you put in your location). I am pretty sure this one also tells you when you started. I always forget this date, but would like to check it out so I can find out how many Tweets I average (I’m a dork).
5. So I’m still not 100% sure what Twidroidis. From the shots on the website, I think it’s a mobile app for TMobile. It looks like a nice app. It looks clean and has one feature I WOULD LOVE! The follow/unfollow feature would be GREAT on my bb. I don’t get on Twitter.com that often, I do most of it through my phone. I see people I want to unfollow, but always forget. I make a list of them in my note pad, but then don’t feel like looking them up later. I don’t have TMobile, but would check this out if I did.

Add your pictures on Twitter this way:
1. The most popular way to add pictures is Twitpic. When I upload pictures from my computer, this is always the site I use. It was the one I was first told about and I’m a creature of habit. You don’t have to make an account, you just sign in with your Twitter name and password and it updates your time line. The site is cool because when you pop it up, it shows a map of where people are adding pictures and you can see what the pics are. It also tells you how many people have looked at your pictures. I’m all about numbers, so this works well for me.
But it you want to check out other options, here are some choices:
2. Twitgoois a site I just recently found. It is very simple. You sign in with your Twitter name just like Twitpic and voila, you can add a pic and a message.
3. When it comes to adding pictures from your cell phone, most Twitter applications you download will be able to add your photos from your phone. I have a tried a couple of different ways on my phone, but the one I’m using now is called Snap2Twitter. Every time you take a picture, it gives you the option to send it to Twitter. The only problem is if you decide to use one later, you can’t use this application. If that is the case, I just text it to Twitpic. I can’t find a site for Snap2Twitter, I found it in the Blackberry Apps store though.
4. I wanted to try to find all of these sites on my own, but I found a site that has done it for me. So, instead of adding the dozens of picture sites, here’s a list, and check out the site for other Twitter options. There are a lot of sites on this WordPress blog about Twitter Apps, so it may be overwhelming, but I still have some in mind, so I’ll keep doing these posts with the sites I like.

This is my local Twitter Site edition.
1. 304 blogsis a super cool site. I learned about the site from Twitter. It’s a site that compiles blog posts from West Virginia bloggers. Once you post a blog, it’ll go up on the site, it will also be posted to Twitter. That way you don’t have to send out a link, it’s done for you. It’s very easy. Click the add your blog link and fill in your name and url and voila.
2. Do you have a secret? Why not share it on Secret Tweet? A local Marshall student ( @mozunk ) made the site. You have 140 characters to anonymously post a secret. A lot like the Post Secret website. I like the idea, but personally, it makes me paranoid. I’m always worried when I read a post that could pertain to me. But still, it’s a great site.
3. Twitter Local is a download to help you find local Twitterers. I haven’t tried it, but I think it’s a cool idea. Just download it, put in your city/state and how many miles away you want to go and bam – you have Tweets.
Let me know if there are any other local Twitter related sites to add to this.

1. Twitter Gadgetis another site designed to show you what’s going on on Twitter without you being on Twitter’s page. Recently, I’ve been getting tired of all of the privacy pop ups on Twitter, I triedTwitScoopand really liked it. This site lets you sign into Twitter, but updates you from their page. Let me know if you try Twitter Gadget and how it works.
2. So Twitter Troll is supposed to be a Twitter Search Engine. I searched, it did nothing. It just gave me an error message. So, there’s not much for me to say about this, other than it didn’t work. On the front page, it shows you Tweets about the web and about Twitter, but that’s all I can get it to do. One thing I always think is interesting is how many times people have Tweeted. This site shows you along with the message you’re interested in. Will try again later and let you know my progress, or lack thereof.
3. If you’re competitive, you may like Twitter Score. I like it because it tells me out of everyone who has been on this site, how much better I am than them
Kidding, but it’s cool to see where you rank. I think at one time when I did this, I had a 9 point something, but now I only have a 5.4 out of 10. That’s failing, but I’m not sure how to make it better. Forget it, I don’t like this site anymore
4. If you use Firefox, you may want to check out Twitterfox. It’s an extension to your toolbar. It shows you when people are Tweeting and gives you a box to Tweet directly from your toolbar.
5. Twitterurlyis a site dedicated to showing you the links that people are posting. Right now on this site (Sunday at 11:19pm) most of the links are about Billy Mays. It groups the people who are posting the same link together and shows you their Tweet and tells you how many people have Tweeted that link. There’s an Everything, News, Pics and Videos tab. There is a search button. I looked for WSAZ and there were quite a bit of Tweets. Most were from our work account, but it was cool to see the latest story on wsaz.com about the Boil Water Advisory being lifted was posted in Tweets 5 times.

1. Twitter Analyzer I’m not going to lie, it didn’t do much for me. You put in your Twitter name and it shows you a line graph of how many Tweets you Tweet a day. I mean, it’s ok to see the days you Tweet more than others, but I don’t know if I’ll go to this site just to see the days I Tweeted most in a wee.
2. Twitter Digest is a site that I plan on using for a couple of reasons. With this site, you can put in certain users names and see what they’re Tweeting. That’s the point of Twitter right? Well…. if you only have a few people you are following, it would be pointless. But since I’m following 1200 people right now, I am bound to miss a few. I think we’re going to start one of these at work so we can see what all of the local companies that are on Twitter are Tweeting. We’ve realized that many are using their Twitter accounts to put out Press Releases instead of sending them out. We can’t miss anything. Right? I think I’m also going to set one up for the people I work with. There’s times when they ask me if I’ve seen a recent Tweet… and most times I haven’t. Normally what happens is when I see they have Tweeted, I’ll check out their page and catch up on all the Tweets I’ve missed. I’ll update you when I use it and let you know how I feel then!
3. We Followis a Twitter Directory. You can find people who are interested in pretty much anything on this site. You can add yourself and give yourself 3 tags. There are 15+ (I stopped counting at 15) pages with different “tags”. There are over 300 tags on each page. So, there’s a good chance no matter what you like, you’ll be able to find someone. I think mine are journalist, blogger and news … I don’t remember. It’s been a while since I’ve added myself.
4. Inner Twitteris a site that makes you want to go “Woo Sahh”. You sign up to Inner Twitter and it sends you a chime messages every now and then. “When you receive the chime stop. Listen. Pay attention to your breathing. Pay attention to what is before you. Really look at what is in front of you. Forget yourself and become whatever resonates, like stillness, peace or beauty.” -InnerTwitter.com. Let me know if anyone does this and if it works. I’m not sure a chime would calm me, but I could be wrong.
5. Twitter Moms has a group for any mom on Twitter. You can use this site to connect with other moms around the world. I think the last time I checked there were 16,900 moms signed up. This doesn’t do much for me now, but when I become a mom, if Twitter is still thriving, I’ll check it out. I’m sure I’ll need all the help I can get!
