I’ve never done a monthly wrap-up post, but it’s a new year, might as well try new things. Kind of like my last post on Cover Wars.

Pages Read: 2393

Bookmarks Given:
1. 0 Books
2. 2 Books
3. 2 Books
4. 2 Books
5. 1 Books
*There was one book I didn’t give a rating to because it was short stories.

Favorite Book: Tainted
Least Favorite Book: Dead as a Doornail

Giveaways:
I gave away Truly, Madly and had quite a few entries. The Duty of Love didn’t fare so well. No entries, but if you are interested, let me know. If I don’t hear anything by the weekend, I’ll give it to my church for the church book sale.

Goals for February:
1. Get some reading done for my 2010 Young Adult Reading Challenge
2. Finish up the books I have from publishers/borrowed/contests and read the ones I’ve bought
3. Read 9 books. That may be a stretch. I didn’t realize I read so many in January, but it’s a goal

Looking Forward to in February:
Starting the Private series and finishing the Sookie Stackhouse series.

My AnnAlysis on Charlaine Harris' Dead to the World

Release: May 4, 2004

Dead to the World is the fourth in the Sookie Stackhouse series. The book starts on New Year’s Eve (that’s actually the day I started reading it as well). Sookie is traveling home from a night of work when she spots a man, stark naked, running down the road. Little did Sookie know until she stopped and got a good look that this was the most powerful, oldest and most prominent vampire in their area. And, there’s a little problem: He’s lost his memory! And it’s up to Sookie to keep him safe until they can find out how to get it back. But this isn’t Sookie’s only problem. Her brother Jason is missing and there was blood on the deck. Cougar blood. That’s never good! So now, Sookie has to keep her vampire safe, find her brother and stick to her resolution which is not getting beaten up. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that another supernatural being is thrown in the mix.

I really enjoyed this book. There was drama from start to finish and while one plot unfolded, the other got messier. I had an idea about how things would go, but it didn’t take away from the book that I was on the right track.

Once again, Harris introduces us to more craziness. Not only are there vampires, shape shifters, Weres etc., now there’s also witches and fairies. I can’t imagine who she still has to add. There are 5 more books. I can’t think of any other Supes.

All of my favorite characters were back in this book. I love Alcide and Bubba and I love the new Eric! But this series started out as a vampire series and this book was a little different. Yes, the plot was around saving a vampire, but there were so many other Supes in this one, it didn’t really seem as much as a vampire book.

This series is reminding me a lot of the Stephanie Plum series, but while Stephanie fights real bad guys, Sookie fights supernatural ones. They both want to get through the day alive and always end up in the middle of the drama. They also always think about the days before the drama started. As I imagine I would too. I’m glad for the similarities. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to fill the void of
Miss Plum but now I have.

I give Dead to the World 4 bookmarks.
