Book Giveaway
So if you’ve been keeping up with my On My Bookshelf posts for the past couple of weeks, then you already know I got two copies of Truly Madly and that means one will go to one of my lucky readers.
Now since I got these from Goodreads.com and Librarything.com, I will ask that you post a review of the book when you are done reading.

Normally I make the giveaway periods a month, but since this book comes out in February, I want to make sure I get it sent out so you have time to read and review before the release date. So, this giveaway will end at midnight on Saturday, January 9th. I will announce the winner on Sunday the 10th and send it out on the 11th.
Here’s what Goodreads.com says about the book:
Meet Lucy Valentine; sassy, fabulously original…and psychic.
Lucy hails from a long line of matchmakers known as Valentine INC. According to family legend, the Valentines have been blessed by Cupid with the ability to help couples find true love. Trouble is Lucy’s powers were zapped away by an electrical surge and now all she can find are lost objects.
But what good is that in the matchmaking world?
Lucy is about to find out when she tries to solve a murder and winds up falling into a romance of her own.
Here’s how you enter the contest:
+1 Leave me your email address
+2 Put this on your sidebar or tweet about it (leave me both links)
+3 Tell me about one of your matchmaking experiences
Again, this ends at midnight January 9th. I am really excited about this book and hope you are too!
Now, here’s my matchmaking experience: My senior year of high school, my homecoming date asked me to go shopping with him to get his outfit. We were going to go meet his dad at the mall, go shopping and have lunch. Although I had known this guy since kindergarten, I had never met his dad. The next weekend, he was at the homecoming game to watch his son and I thought my mom would hit it off with him. I introduced them and the next day he came to my cross country meet. They talked for a while, started dating, quit dating and now almost 6 years later, they are still together. Maybe Valentine Inc. should hire me

Book Giveaway: Duty of Love

Hello All! I received an extra copy of The Duty of Love! I received my copy of this book from the Kelley and Hall Publishing Company last month and REALLY liked it. Click here for the review.
Here’s what the back of the book says:
“What Would You Do If…
You were a lovelorn wizard with a rat that lived in your hair (your trademark in the very competitive business of wizardry)? Would you turn it into a human to spy on the damsels for you? What if you were a little Princess, and no one would listen to you when you tried to warn them about the murderess who was trying to take over the kingdom? Would you go looking for the wizard of Fandonwhom no one had ever seen, but had the best fireworks of all, and so, was surely the greatest of all the wizards? And if you were her brother, the Prince, would you try to rescue her from certain death?
What if you were a real life little girl, dying of a mysterious illness, and had an equally mysterious and deadly creature living in your closet? And what if you were her little brother? What would you promise the creature in return for saving the life of your sister?
The story starts with Father, a gifted storyteller, telling a fairy tale to his son, Charles, a troubled loner, and his daughter, Tanya, who is very, very ill. Each night Father tells more of the fairy tale, but later at night and during the day Charles and Tanya have real life problems of their own. Charles must fight his own descent into hellish darkness and Tanya must confront her coming death and the mysterious noises, scratches and bumps that echo every night from her closet.
The Duty of Love is about a girl who is dying physically and a boy who is dying spiritually. It’s about rats that become humans and humans that become lizards. It’s about a wizard who becomes wise and a wizard who tells lies. It’s about well-meant little compromises that turn deadly, and heroic stands against all odds. It is also the story of a mysterious maiden, who is sure she knows the deepest and greatest secret of all. But most of all, it’s about what it means to love and what it means to be human.”
This is really great story within a story. You learn about the Wizard through a story being told to a little boy and girl. If you are interested, all you have to do is two things:
1. Leave me your email.
2. Promise me you will do a review of this book. All you have to do when you are done reading it is send me the link to your blog and I will forward it on to the company. If you do not have a blog, just email me what you thought about the book. I promised the company that I would make sure whoever read this book would do a review.
Easy right? You have until January 20th to get your names in!
Christmas Giveaway
In honor of the Christmas spirit, author Bart Harper and I are holding a book giveaway.
Bart’s new book Pet Peeves will be available around Christmas, so we’ll have the contest end on Christmas day.

What drives you absolutely up the wall? Makes you cringe? Makes your toes curl? Well, there’s a good chance Bart covers it in his latest book.
Here’s are a couple of Bart’s pet peeves:
Razor Burn! Okay, so I suffered through my Acne stage from ages 15 thru 25 and when it was over, I was a happy man! But from time to time, I am reminded of the dreaded pizza face syndrome by my trusty razor. Not sure what causes it but the little read bumps dominate and I am once again humiliated! So I resort to the unthinkable, my wife’s Covergirl. Sometimes people notice and I say “Don’t hate me cause I’m beautiful!”
People at Yard Sales! “Hmm those candle holders are too much. I’ll give you $1.75,” the lady claims. This coming from a woman who is driving a Mercedes and carrying a Coach purse! The original price was only $2.00, so the lady has now shamed herself in my eyes! (Guess that is how she affords the car) She did make Bob Barker proud by so bluntly stating “Thats too much!”
To enter this contest, leave a comment with your email address. Simple right?? Well for an extra entry, leave us one of your pet peeves in the comment.
Bart always signs his books, so you can expect this will be a signed copy. Oh and did I mention Bart wrote this on Facebook? He entered a pet peeve into his status every day and the compiled them for the book. Very cool way of writing! So…. have at it. We’ll name a winner the day after Christmas!
This is Bart’s 3rd book. Check out my reviews on his other books:
Adventures of a Fat Kid
The Gentleman in Room 205
