PostHeaderIcon Halloween Reads 2010

I love, love, love reading with the seasons. I have already stockpiled 6 books for the Christmas season, but I’m creeping up on Halloween with NOTHING to read. Last year I read Interview with the Vampire and a couple of True Blood books. The year before, I read The Historian.  I must say that the past two years, my choices have been stellar, so I have high hopes for a great book this year. So, my search begins!

My first place for the search is at work. I asked a coworker if he had anything in mind, he was the one who suggested The Historian, which is one of my favorite books ever. This years, suggestion:

I like the idea of changing up my scarer of choice from vampires to witches. I have been strictly vampires since I read the Twilight series. And I may have been slightly obsessed. The only thing that really scares me about this book, it’s like 1,000 pages. That is extremely scary.

But as any good journalist will tell you, the search can’t stop there. We have to make sure we are getting the best we can. That leads me to Jenn at Jenn’s Bookshelves. She has dedicated this entire month to the spook’s with Fright Fest. And of course, she has left us a huge list of scary books. From her list, I am going to check out:

Trick or Treat Murder by Leslie Meier (which also led me to find) Wicked Witch Murder by Leslie Meier – I have had my eye on these books forever. I may have to start them, just out of order so I am reading them as they holidays come.
Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn

I am a huge list person, so I Google’d “Top 10 Scary Books” and found this:

This tops Amazon’s Top 10 Scariest Books list and I have chills from just reading this short snippet:

“For one night, Barrett and his colleagues investigate the Belasco House and learn exactly why the townfolks refer to it as the Hell House.”

I know there are always the Stephen King Books, which I haven’t read any of. But I feel like there is so much hype, I’m not sure if they would do the trick.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Goodness, I am not sure if I can read Hell House. I am still having anxiety about the synopsis.

PostHeaderIcon A to Z Challenge Update

As September begins, I only have 4 books left in my A to Z Challenge and I already have them lined up. Here’s what you can expect in the next month or so.

I: Interview with the Vampire (No secret, I love vampires. I’ve heard great things about this. October read for sure)

Interview With The Vampire

K: Killer Cruise (I’m reading now)

Killer Cruise

W: Wicked: Witch and Curse (I just ordered off Amazon to take Wuthering Heights spot…yay!)

Wicked Witch and Curse

Y: Your Mouth Drives me Crazy (This was an Oprah Book Club book my mom read, not as steamy as she expected lol)

Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy

If you’ve read any of these, without giving away spoilers, let me know what you think :)
