A Small Blogiesta

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Just a week after posting my goals for the next year, I have fallen off the wagon and it has been a few days since I have even logged onto my blog. I am hoping to get up and going again in the next day or so, but I had family in for a few days and reading and blogging were the last things on my mind, especially since they got me hooked on Big Brother. Then, yesterday, I had all my blogs planned for the week, but around 11, started feeling horrible. I ended up having to go to the hospital for a virus and ended up in bed for 13 hours. I am back to feeling human again today, on my third Gatorade and trying to keep the hunger pains down. All I had yesterday was toast and yogurt. I have definitely made up for it today.

But anywho, I’m getting ready to start on my Teaser Tuesday post for the week, along with a review of No One Lives Twice. Until the next post! And thanks for putting up with my little naps from blogging! It won’t happen again, unless the bug comes back!

What Are You Reading?

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

So most of the people who stop by here are looking to see what books I am reading. That’s primarily all I post about. But this weekend, I started thinking about everything else I read and wanted to see what you guys read on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

I always have a book in my purse. Right now, I am reading Mania by Craig Larsen. I read a lot of different genres. I like chick lit, I like young adult, but I also like a little mystery and suspense every now and then. I can’t read those too often though, otherwise I have nightmares (no, I’m not 7 lol).

I read newspapers everday. I normally don’t pick up a hard copy of the paper though. I have all of the local papers saved in my favorites on my computer at work. I always use these to see if there are any stories we’ve missed or should look into.

I am a sucker for the crosswords puzzle and the wedding section of the paper, so we do normally buy the Sunday paper so I can have both of those.

I go through phases with magazines.  At the end of high school and through college, I read Cosmo. For a while, I was in a big celebrity kick and read US Weekly. I quit reading those when I realized that everything in them, I’d already learned through a celebrity blog. Every now and then, I’ll pick up a magazine depending on who is on the cover, like the country music one I got because Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were featured.  This past weekend I picked up the latest Marie Claire. I wanted it because a dress from this season of Project Runway was featured with Heidi Klum on the cover. I have fallen in love with the magazine now and can’t wait to get a subscription.

I have had my eye on, but haven’t splurged yet, on WV Living.

The magazine’s title says it all. It’s all about living in the Mountain State. I have seen a couple of copies of this, but keep putting off buying it.  They also made a WV Weddings magazine. I was kind of bummed when I saw this because getting ready for my wedding, I couldn’t find anything and was seriously considering getting some friends together and starting one.

My husband is a big magazine reader. He has subscriptions for 3-4 hunting magazines, he and some coworkers share sports magazines and he’s a Maxim man.  He hasn’t been getting the last magazine as much recently. I always read them after he did and they were extremely useful in one of my college classes where we had to show sexism. All I had to do was open a Maxim and my assignment was done.

So, now that you know what kind of reading goes on in my house, I want to know what goes on in yours. Are you strictly a book nerd? Or do you read anything and everything you can get your hands on?

Me and Mikey – The Facts

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I don’t really do a lot of personal posts on here, but I always enjoy reading them on other blogs. When I read blogs, I feel like I really know them and the more I can learn about them/from them, the more I enjoy stopping by. So here’s to hoping you feel the same way. Giveaway and Blog Update

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Hello all! Hope you are having an amazing start to 2010! I sure am! I have started a new shift, which makes it wonderful to be home by 7:30 p.m. instead of midnight. It’s also wonderful, and a bit strange, to be able to spend so much time with my husband on week nights. For the past year and a half, I’ve worked a 2-11pm shift. He’s in bed when I get home and I am in bed when he leaves so it was a maximum of 2 minutes a day that we saw each other. Wonder how long until we get on each others nerves? :)

The change of the new shift i wonderful, but I’m having a hard time getting my sleep schedule on track. I was used to sleeping until about 9:30 every morning. Now I get up at about 6:15. I was going to bed around 12:30, now I’m going to bed around 11:15-11:30. So as you do the math, you see I’ve lost a few hours. Today, I am pooped, but I’ll get it back on track by next week and be as bright as the sunshine (I know the morning crew loves me coming in all cheery).

This change of schedule has also changed my blog. OBVIOUSLY! I haven’t posted anything since the 3rd. While I have more time to read in the evenings, I have to take more breaks so I don’t fall asleep at 8:30 LOL. Also, Michael and I have been taking turns on the laptop. I’ll play for a while, then pass it off to him. We continue this until bedtime. That will change next week. I am really excited! I have ordered this:

Dell Mini

YAY! I can’t wait to get this in my lap! We got a Wii and Wii Fit for Christmas from my dad. But we decided that if we would both be home in the evenings, we should probably get another computer since we both are on it so much. I decided with this 1. because it was right around the same price as the Wii bundle and 2. all I needed it for was to keep my blog updated and maybe some work emails and what not. It’s so pretty! I can’t wait!

Now down to business! Tomorrow is the last day to enter in the Truly, Madly book giveaway. While I had planned on keeping the Duty of Love open until January 20th, it’s not been getting much traffic. So, I will also end this giveaway at midnight tomorrow as well! So, get your entry in here too!

Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll be posting a review soon on Life O’Reilly.

I Am So Very Thankful

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

So, it’s time again for Thanksgiving and to share what we are thankful for. This year, I have sooo much!

BeThankful

  • *I am thankful for my health. Knock on wood, I hardly ever get sick!
  • *I am thankful for my husband. It’s our first holiday season as a married couple. I can’t wait to buy “Just Married” decorations for our tree :)
  • *I am thankful for my family. They are always amazing, but this year stepped it up and gave Michael and I the perfect wedding.
  • *I am thankful that this year I have gotten much closer to a number of my family members.
  • *I am thankful that I have a job and I love it.
  • *I am thankful that I have met so many wonderful friends through blogging and have realized that through reading and writing I can find a release!
  • *I am thankful that my grandmother has recovered so well from her stroke last Christmas. We weren’t sure if we would have her last Christmas and this year, she’s cute as ever.

I know that there are many more things I could touch on, but those are the main ones. What are you thankful for this year???
