Hi all! Welcome to my blog! A little about me and what you’ll found here: My name is Kari. I am 26 and live in West Virginia with my amazing husband (pictured above). I work at a television station, but rarely (if ever) blog about that. Here you’ll mostly find bookish goodies, with a hint of my current obsession…whatever it may be at the time. I’m phasey, it happens.
I started blogging about books after I read Jane Eyre. I just needed someone to gush to. My Myspace friends were the ones who got the honor and after a few months of random blogging on Myspace, I moved to WordPress. I finally got my own domain and have grown a lot and officially call myself a blogger now.
The thing I love most about blogging is the community. I’ve made so many great friends online that wouldn’t have been possible without the books!
I started out reading light YA and Chick Lit books, but with age, my tastes have changed and grown. Now, I read whatever I can get my hands on and love checking out new genres. I work with several companies, reviewing the books they send me. I also spend a lot of time on NetGalley and have recently become a member of SheReads.org. I love the doors that reading has opened for me.
Also on the blog, you’ll find my adventures in writing. I have written two books in a YA series. I am still on the road to publication. I won’t give up!
I have recently gotten into a major fit kick. I’ve always been active. I played three sports. My mom is a physical education teacher. It’s in my genes and my bones. But at the start of 2013, I decided my theme for the year would be “Let’s Get Physical”. Now, on Fridays, I share different aspects of getting fit and working out.
If you have a book you would like me to review, here are some things to know: I am open to any genres, but don’t always say yes to requests. If you have a book you want me to check out, email me email@example.com. I try to get through a couple of books a week, but depending on how my schedule is for the upcoming months, it may be a couple of months before I can get to the book you are offering.
I rate all of the books I read out of five book marks:
One bookmark: Read at your own risk. If you hate it, tell me so I can “I told you so.”
Two bookmarks: I didn’t hate it, but I definitely won’t read it again.
Three bookmarks: I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I give a lot of threes because there are a lot of books that I have to think about. If I’m not sure if I REALLY liked it, I’ll give it a three. These are books that I’ll tell you I liked, but I’m not sure if I’d go out and buy it. Maybe just get it at the library.
Four bookmarks: I REALLY liked it and I’ll definitely keep this book to read again when I eventually run out of something new to read. I highly suggest these books.
Five bookmarks: Run out and get it NOW! I’ve lightened up a little in my reviewing process, but I still don’t give a bunch of 5s. If you see a five, I loved it and want you to read it so we can chat about it!
And yes, I judge a book by its cover. If it’s pretty, I’m more apt to buy it
