Read-A-Thon FINAL UPDATE!
Hi guys. Hope if you are taking part in the Bout of Books Read-a-Thon this week you are having some success.
Sunday:
Good news, I ended up finishing the book I was reading Saturday night. I read 100 pages of it, then read another 35 pages of a Stephanie Plum novel.
Sunday wasn’t a great reading day until bedtime. Then I got about 90 pages down.
Saturday:
Today has been a crazy day. Mom and I got up and walked 5.4 miles, ate lunch and then I knitted my little hands off while we watched basketball. Good news, it was a great workout day and I finished the blanket I’ve been working on for a month and a half now. Bad news, it’s 8 p.m. and the only reading that’s been done today is a few chapters of my audio book driving between my house and my mom’s house today….about 10 miles. But there’s more good news. Husband is out with some friends for the evening, so from now until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore, I intend to read, read, read. I hope to finish The Magnolia League and start…. shhhh it’s a surprise. You’ll find out at the next update I hope!
Friday:
I did a little extra driving around tonight because I was meeting a friend and did a little shopping, so I got a little more done in the audio book department. And it was a normal day for regular book reading. Got through 41 pages. Thank goodness the weekend is coming!
Thursday:
Good day today! It was a normal day when it came to audio books, but for the Magnolia League, I got through more than 100 pages. Starting to get so good I can’t put it down.
Wednesday:
Still trying to get into by both books I am working on. Had a decent day on audio books, but not a great day on The Magnolia League. Only got through 20 pages. Yikes. I spent the evening with some friends though and friend time comes first.
Tuesday:
It’s hard to live up to a reading day like Monday! 200 pages is a lot of me. Heck, being able to stay up to read 100 pages is a lot. I got a new Nook for Christmas and it has a light on it so I’ve been turning off my lamp and just reading with the backlight. I’ve woken up several mornings with my Nook still in bed with me.
But I didn’t do horrible Tuesday. It was a better audio book day than normal book day.
What Happens at Christmas: I was able to finish this audio book Tuesday. I listened to two discs. Normally I only get through one or one and a half, but I got stuck behind an accident and was stopped for 30 minutes, so I got a little extra listening time in.
Red Rain: After finishing What Happens at Christmas, I started Red Rain by R.L. Stine. I am not sure I’ll be able to finish this one. I almost had to stop after there was talk of vomiting for several minutes. I did listen to the first six chapters though, so I got a lot of audio book time in yesterday.
I also started The Magnolia League Tuesday and got through the first 70 pages before my Nyquil kicked in. Hoping to be able to buzz through this one and finish by Thursday evening.
Monday:
So far, so good with me. Monday was a great day for me.
Calling Me Home: I read this book in three increments Monday and read a total of 231 pages. I was able to finish the book with lots of tissues and stayed up entirely too late, but it was worth it.
What Happens at Christmas: This is an audio book I have been listening to since Christmas. It is 10 discs long and has taken me forever. Monday I was able to listen to half of disc 7, and all of disc 8. This morning, I got stuck behind an accident so I listened to all of disc 9 and hope to finish disc 10 (and the audio book) on my drive home.
Today at lunch I am starting The Magnolia League, a book I got for Christmas, and am very excited. Hopefully I can get an uninterrupted lunch break to get some good reading in.

OVERALL REVIEW:
I think that the read-a-thon helped encourage me to pick up my book a few more times that I normally would. Normally during the evenings, I work out, visit friends, knit and then read before bed. I was still able to get all of this done, but rearranged my time on each activity to make sure that reading was the predominant one. Now, one thing that did lag when I was reading was my blog. I tried to update this post a couple of times, but I didn’t get any other posts added. I guess we can’t have it all eh?
I will probably do another read-a-thon and really liked that this one was a week long. I was still successful although I had a couple of down days, because I had a couple of great days to make up for it.

It looks like you’re off to a good start! I’m not participating in this one but I’ll be joining the Seasons of Reading challenge two weeks from now. It’s exciting to focus on reading for a week!
Kay I’m the same way. I always read at lunch and in the evenings, but giving myself a week where I keep track of it, makes me want to read more.
