New York, New York!
First of all, before I even get into this post, please take a second to take in this dreamy photo! I found it on Flickr on Songquan Deng’s photostream and fell in love. As beautiful as this photo is, it was a little hard for me to choose just one. He has amazing photos from around the city.
Now you may be wondering why I am even posting a random, but lovely, picture from the Big Apple. Well that’s because that is my destination for the weekend! Woo! I am so excited. I haven’t been to NYC since I was in the 6th grade.
I am going on a bus trip with a group of girl friends. We have plans to stop by the Today Show, where I’m hoping Matt Lauer will chat up an old OU Alum
We are also going to tour the 911 Memorial and going to watch Priscilla Queen of the Desert , which my dad is totally jealous of. That’s on the top of his show list.
My only request for the trip was to go to Strand Bookstore. I fell in love with it when my friend WriteMeg! wrote about it on her blog and knew I had to go.
Other than that, I’m just along for the ride. I imagine that my weekend will definitely not be enough time so while I am there, I will start planning my next trip and see if I can drag anyone back with me…I’m sure it’ll be tough finding a travel mate
I am still up for suggestions. I have been told to check out Magnolia and Crumbs, both cupcake shops, and Carmine’s Italian restaurant. I have a feeling I’m going to be doing a lot of eating. Oh and my boss offered me dinner at his mom’s house. And my twitter pal Aric has suggested I just stay an entire month because in April Mary Higgins-Clark, who I’m now obsessed with, is coming to town for a book club. I still am trying to figure out if I can get back to the big city for the book club meeting.
If you are on Twitter (KariAnnAlysis) or Instagram (also KariAnnAlysis) make sure to follow me for loads of pictures this weekend!!
See you back next week!

Hooray — hope you have a fabulous time! Definitely get to the Strand — it’s such a phenomenal bookstore, and I’m dying to go back. I’ll be in New York with my sister in May to see “The Newsies,” her favorite movie (turned Broadway play), and I’m planning what we’re going to do during our less-than-48-hour stay. Will be fun, but a whirlwind!
Thanks Meg! I am beside myself with excitement!!
Have so much fun!! I *just* bought tickets today for our trip to NY in June. Eek I am excited. I’ve only been once for a 2-day work trip and husband has never been. We’re working on a list of things to do & see, but let me know if there’s anything we should add to it after your trip.
Alita we had a BLAST! We did so much in two days! I would definitely suggest the 911 Memorial. You have to get online and get free tickets though before you go and security is crazy, but it’s so serene there. Times Square in the night is a MUST. That’s where we stayed, so we just hung out and people watched for a while. It’s amazing how bright it is. And I would suggest breakfast at Ellen’s Stardust Diner. The waiters are all aspiring performers and they take turns singing. It was fantastic. Not sure how your husband feels about Broadway, but everything I’ve seen is amazing. Lion King is my favorite. This time we saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert. I loved it, but it’s in drag…the guys that were with us didn’t really enjoy it as much as we did. I have SEVERAL posts I’m going to work on the next couple of weeks, so standby for more ideas. And I’m no expert, but if you have any questions, I’ll try to help while it’s still fresh
