AnnAlysis: My Horizontal Life
Chelsea Handler was dared by her siblings to walk in on her parents having sex. That was just the beginning of Chelsea’s life between the sheets. In My Horizontal Life, she recounts her sexual escapades, from her night with a midget (which we all know she has an affinity for), to trying to hook up her roommate, and her summer with a man who spoke very little English.
Handler is a funny, raunchy woman. I knew that going into the book and knew what I was getting myself into. It definitely lived up to my hopes.
I took this book (e-book I should say) on vacation with me, for a light, funny read. I laughed out loud quite a bit.
But my favorite chapters weren’t the ones where she realized the doctor she was hot for didn’t play for her team or where she told a guy she had to go out to her car to get some “toys” and never came back. They were funny and stories that I can’t imagine people could just write, but my favorite chapters were the ones about her roommate.
Cheslea refers to her roommate as “Dumb Dumb” and the chapters about her are so witty. She has the funniest one liners about her. I’ve gone back and read the chapters about her a couple of times and imagine if I am ever in need of a quick laugh, that’s where I’ll turn.
I am not normally one to pick up a memoir. I really like Tori Spelling and would read anything she wrote and have Nicole Ritchie’s book on my shelf (and have for a good six years), but my cousin found this for $1.99 and there’s no way I could have passed it up. The other books Handler has written are definitely going on my TBR list.
