AnnAlysis: Prom and Prejudice
Lizzie isn’t like most of the other girls at her private prep school. Her family isn’t swaddling her in money, she doesn’t go on lavish vacations and she doesn’t have a lot of friends. You guessed it, she’s a scholarship kid (now go wash your hands). Lizzie is a brilliant piano player, but no one seems to see past her poorness. She thinks that will change after everyone goes on winter break. Yeah, not so much. It seems to just get worse, especially with prom being around the corner.
Cue Pemberly School, the boys school that Lizzie’s school shares prom with. Lizzie doesn’t care about prom. She works at a coffee shop, goes to school, practices piano and stays away from the mean girls. That’s until a few boys come into her life. Will Darcy scoffs at Lizzie and her lack of trust fund when he first meets her, but he may just be her chance at attending prom this year, even though that’s the last thing on her mind.
I fortunately have read a few YA books lately that actually don’t feel like YA books. I have run into a lot lately, and passed on some I would’ve picked up a year or so ago because I feel like I am getting too old for them, and the immaturity of a pre-teen and early teen gets under my skin. Prom and Prejudice is very mature. I think it’s the fact that these kidsĀ go to a prep school where grades are extremely important. Obviously they are smarter than most of the others their age.
This book was a quick, fun read with likable characters. It was a bit predictable. I could the paths that a couple of characters were going down and couldn’t stop reading until I could prove myself I was right.
I give Prom and Prejudice 4 bookmarks.

Sounds like a cute enough story, but I’m still feeling a little burned out from reading too many Austen-related books the past few years! I like the cover, though — pink gets me every time.
I’m the same way about pink! If it’s pretty, I’m reading it. I don’t care if it’s about mice lol
