Katarina hasn’t grown up like most. From time she could walk, and cause a distraction, she’s been part of the family business, which isn’t necessarily legal. She’s tried to distance herself, by enrolling in a private school. But when her dad is accused of pulling off a serious heist of 5 very rare and wanted paintings, it’s up to Katarina to clear his name and pull off the biggest heist of all.

As I said in my last post and will reiterate here, I absolutely love reading a YA book when the characters are way beyond their years. While reading this, I never once felt like Katarina and Hale were kids, although they are. They are mature and wise for their ages and have both been through more law breaking than most in an entire lifetime. But, it’s their way of life, and they are good at it, better than most adults. Oh and they are smart, so smart!

I’m always a fan of a hardcore heroine and Katarina definitely fits into this category. She’s smart, strong and witty. She’s always on top of her game, even though she’s been out of the game for quite a while now.

From page 1, Carter had me into this book and I was deeply into it until I turned the last page. The characters were likable and believable, the story line was amazing and creative and Carter kept me wanting to read until I found out how this whole heist went down.

I cannot wait until this second book comes out, and more, I hear Heist Society is being made into a movie! As far as I know, no roles have been cast for this movie, but I am reading that Katarina will be in her mid 20s instead of teens as she is in the book. I’ve read a few comments that are not happy with this, I’m good either way. I think for the movie viewer, although Katarina is wise beyond her age in the book, if a movie is cast with a bunch of teenagers, adults probably won’t go. Although this is YA, it’s definitely a story line that all ages can enjoy and the older the character is, the more respect she’ll have from the get-go. I think that this does take away from the book a little, just because Kat is so awesome for a teen, that’s one of the things that I loved most. Most teens couldn’t hold a candle to her art thievery skills. So, I guess we’ll just wait and see.

Anywho, back to the book, I give Heist Society 5 bookmarks!
