AnnAlysis: Call Me Mrs. Miracle
If the hustle and bustle of Christmas time isn’t enough, Holly is now trying to make her list and check it twice with her 8-year-old nephew Gabe at her side. Gabe’s dad is in Afghanistan, so Holly has been watching him for a few months. The relationship is a little rocky, but Holly is doing her best to keep Gabe, herself and her strict boss, designed Lindy Lee happy.

It’s a normal, stressful, run-out-of-money morning for Holly when Jake offers to pay for her Starbucks. But little does she know that a miracle is in the works, in the form of an angel. That angel seems to be Mrs. Miracle, a holiday employee at Jake’s department store, Finley’s. She always knows just the thing to make everyone around her happy and sometimes appears to be reading minds.
So with the help of Mrs. Miracle, Holly and Jake get a chance at love, Gabe gets the best Christmas ever, and some family members get the closure they need to move on.
Ok, I’m just going to throw it out there, I’m a fan of Debbie Macomber. This was my first book of hers that I read. Last year and this year when I was searching for holiday reads, I told myself to find young and hip ones because I would have plenty of time in the future to read Macomber’s hundreds of Christmas books. I can’t believe I did that. Next Christmas, I think I’ll make it “A Very Macomber Christmas” and read only her books.
This was a very cute story, pretty predictable, but cute. We had another cute kid, who also made me cry a little bit.
One of my favorite things about this book was the magic. It’s not so out there that it couldn’t happen and you never really know when an angel is at your side, but Christmas is a magical time. This book really got me in the holiday mood.
And the best thing about this book, the movie was released this year and is waiting for me to push play on my DVR to watch it. I love reading a book then being able to watch the movie when it’s still fresh in my mind. Here’s a picture of the cast, you may recognize some of them:
Now that I’ve finished the book, I can’t wait to watch the movie. Mrs. Miracle, Doris Roberts, is definitely the character I imagined. The others however vary slightly from what I imagined. Gabe, the young boy, and Jake, the man are close. Men are easy to describe. I really don’t feel like I ever pictured Holly though. I always try, but now looking at this picture, I don’t remember anything specific about her.
The movie will be aired on Hallmark. Click here to check out when it will be on again.
I give Call Me Mrs. Miracle 5 bookmarks and will add a post after I watch the movie comparing the two.
