AnnAlysis: Dewey

This book follows the true story of Dewey, a loveable cat that ended up in the drop box at a small-town Iowa library. From the time he was found, shivering and starving at 8-weeks-old until he died 18 years later, Dewey turned the library around.
The incredible cat did everything from welcome the patrons when the library opened, to spending time with the ones who needed it the most, to bringing a sparkle to the lives of disabled children.
And Dewey isn’t just a household name in Spencer, Iowa. He is actually known worldwide after being featured on Paul Harvey, in almost every cat magazine and even a couple of films.
This is the story of how a cat can change a community so much. He brought them together through tough times in the town and was there for many people. Who would’ve ever thought a cat could be such an influence for so many people?
This was a great story of love and compassion, even if it was by an animal, I’m just not a huge fan of non-fiction books. There were a lot of awesome stories about the cat and I always like learning about other small towns, I just had a really hard time at the end staying focused and pushing myself through it.
I give Dewey 3 bookmarks. He is a beautiful cat! Reminds me of my cat Jingles… not in color, just in attitude as general. I got her when I was little, as a Christmas present. We named her Jingles because she had jingle bells on her collar. In the 15 years we’ve had her, I’ve become allergic, so we don’t spend much time together and she lives with my mom. She is just as active now though as she was as a tot.

Awwww, a ton of my good friends are from Spencer and it’s the town closest to one of my favorite lakes to party at. Sadly, I still haven’t read this book but I feel as if I had!
