PostHeaderIcon What Are You Reading?

So most of the people who stop by here are looking to see what books I am reading. That’s primarily all I post about. But this weekend, I started thinking about everything else I read and wanted to see what you guys read on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

I always have a book in my purse. Right now, I am reading Mania by Craig Larsen. I read a lot of different genres. I like chick lit, I like young adult, but I also like a little mystery and suspense every now and then. I can’t read those too often though, otherwise I have nightmares (no, I’m not 7 lol).

I read newspapers everday. I normally don’t pick up a hard copy of the paper though. I have all of the local papers saved in my favorites on my computer at work. I always use these to see if there are any stories we’ve missed or should look into.

I am a sucker for the crosswords puzzle and the wedding section of the paper, so we do normally buy the Sunday paper so I can have both of those.

I go through phases with magazines.  At the end of high school and through college, I read Cosmo. For a while, I was in a big celebrity kick and read US Weekly. I quit reading those when I realized that everything in them, I’d already learned through a celebrity blog. Every now and then, I’ll pick up a magazine depending on who is on the cover, like the country music one I got because Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were featured.  This past weekend I picked up the latest Marie Claire. I wanted it because a dress from this season of Project Runway was featured with Heidi Klum on the cover. I have fallen in love with the magazine now and can’t wait to get a subscription.

I have had my eye on, but haven’t splurged yet, on WV Living.

The magazine’s title says it all. It’s all about living in the Mountain State. I have seen a couple of copies of this, but keep putting off buying it.  They also made a WV Weddings magazine. I was kind of bummed when I saw this because getting ready for my wedding, I couldn’t find anything and was seriously considering getting some friends together and starting one.

My husband is a big magazine reader. He has subscriptions for 3-4 hunting magazines, he and some coworkers share sports magazines and he’s a Maxim man.  He hasn’t been getting the last magazine as much recently. I always read them after he did and they were extremely useful in one of my college classes where we had to show sexism. All I had to do was open a Maxim and my assignment was done.

So, now that you know what kind of reading goes on in my house, I want to know what goes on in yours. Are you strictly a book nerd? Or do you read anything and everything you can get your hands on?

Release: April 2009

From start to end, Sookie Stackhouse is facing drama. It starts with finally learning where the fairy in her came from, finding out what it meant when she accepted a vow for her brother when he got married, then goes to a were war, followed by a vamp takeover.

Almost everyone in this book has a “coming of” moment. Quinn shows betrayal, Jason points out the truth, Bob comes of – physically, Eric remembers the time he spent with Sookie when he was under a witches spell and Bill shares his true feelings.

There was so much going on in this book, but I absolutely loved it. When I read a series that is this long, I always get scared that I am going to lose interest by this deep in the series. As showed in my last review and in this one, you can see this is definitely not the case. I loved this book.

This book kept me reading because there was so much going on, I just wanted to know what was coming next. Also, this book had the BEST ending yet. Sookie meets her cousin’s ex-husband and little boy. She soon realizes she’ll be spending a lot of time together.

I am going to give From Dead to Worse 5 bookmarks.

Sookie Stackhouse Books:
1. Dead Until Dark
2. Living Dead in Dallas
3. Club Dead
4. Dead to the World
5. Dead as a Doornail
6. Definitely Dead
7. Altogether Dead

Yay for a new profile picture. When I walked into Wal-Mart the other day, I saw this awesome display of bubbles. I am definitely a kid and will admit this isn’t the first time I’ve run across and bought these bubbles. The first time I got them, they were for myself. This weekend though, I got them for our favorite little lady. Yes, Mama, I know they are messy, but she is so stinking cute and loves her bubbles from Aunt Kari.

Needless to say, I am obsessed with this picture. I put it on my phone and just keep opening my phone to see it. Hope you enjoy the bubbles and the coming of spring.

PostHeaderIcon Me and Mikey – The Facts

Release: July 1, 2006

Oh, where do I begin with this book? Reed Brennan is leaving her small town to go to Easton Academy where she has received a scholarship. She quickly realizes she doesn’t fit in. She doesn’t have money like the rest of the students and she’s never been good at making friends.

The first night on campus she is mesmerized by a group of girls in a dorm acorss from hers. They are all beautiful and drinking wine. She soon learns that these are the Billings Girls. They’re the most popular, prettiest and she decides she’ll do anything to be part of them.

She gets that chance, although it consists of running around and grabbing them lunch. Not what she expected, but better than nothing.

She’s also met a boy, a senior. Thomas is a hottie and they hit it off quickly. But Thomas is keeping a secret and she realizes there’s going to be a lot of ups and downs at Easton. From grades, to boys, to the Billings Girls. You never know what the next day has in store for you.

If you’ve been following me for a whlei, you know I love, love, love private schools. I thoroughly enjoyed my schooling and growing up where and how I did, but something in me has always been intrigued my private schools. So of course, from the get go, I love this series.

This book reminds me a lot about my teen years. All the drama, all the trying to fit in and egt good grades and getting boys to like you … I sure don’t miss that. I do like living it vicariously through others though. As long as I don’t have to deal with the pain, I can handle it.

This is a very quick, dramatic read that left me wanting more. And that is a good thing because I have the first 10 in the series on my book shelf along with the prequel.  I have already fallen for some of the characters. There are some that I love (Taylor), some that I hate (Thomas) and some that I can’t decide because they’re like ice and fire (Noelle). I am eager to get through this series though and I don’t think it’ll take me too long.

I give Private four bookmarks (yes, I know I’ve been very bookmark happy in the past month. I’ve been reading some great ones).
