AnnAlysis: Confessions of a Shopaholic

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this movie because I loved the book series and sometimes it’s hard to live up to the books.
Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) is a Shopaholic. She grew up with thrifty parents who cared more about the longevity of a new pair of shoes than if they were the cute ones all of her classmates had. That ended up turning her into a monster.
She owes $9K in credit card bills and just lost her job. She doesn’t get the job she wanted at a fashion magazine, but does get an interview at a money magazine. Ironic? You betcha.
The movie is SUPER cute, but I’m kind of stuck on how I feel about it. If I wouldn’t have read the books, I think I would have loved it. But since I did read the books, I can’t decide if I liked it because it wasn’t verbatim from the books, or if I hated it for that reason.
There were similarities in the book and the movie. Like the scarf, the job, the crazy shopping, the names and of course the credit card frozen in the ice block in the freezer.
I wish that the movie would have been based in Europe. In the book series, she doesn’t move to the US until the second book. I always imagined Rebecca having an accent, but in the movie, she’s American, so no accent.
If I would never have read the books, I would give this movie 4 popcorns. It’s a “straight from the book” chick flick. But since I’ve read the books and there were parts of the book that I wish would’ve been in the movie, I am giving it 3 popcorns.

AnnAlysis: I Love You Man

Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is a man that most women want to date. He’s romantic and wants to spend time with you. He even makes you milkshakes. The problem with Peter, he doesn’t have any friends.
He and Zooey (Rashida Jones) get engaged, and he’s the happiest man in the world until he realizes, THERE IS NO ONE TO BE THE BEST MAN! He’s always devoted his life to his women, which hasn’t been a problem until now.
Now he has to find a best man. He goes to the gym, lets his mom hook him up but ends up meeting the “man of his dreams” at an open house for a famous actors house.
Sidney (Jason Segel) is the coolest man around. He’s chill, he has a sweet man cave, and he lets his dog poop everywhere and doesn’t clean it up (Ok, I was running out of things).
Peter and Sidney hit it off, but hit some major road bumps when the wedding gets closer.
The movie had some very cute one liners, but gave me MAJOR anxiety because it was soooo awkward. Paul Rudd’s character is very socially inept when it comes to hanging out with men. He’s great with the ladies, but is retarded when he has to carry on a conversation with a man. There’s a lot of stammering, stuttering and strange name calling.
The movie had a very cute ending, but didn’t make up for how strange I felt throughout it.
It had some funny points, but because of the awkwardness, I can only give it two popcorns.

Fall TV Lineup
So within the next month, a number of your favorite shows will start back up. And while that’s great because you’ve missed them, what’s even better are the new ones.
I don’t like to start watching shows that are already a season or two into the series. If I start watching something, I want it to be from the beginning . If I miss an episode and can’t find a re-run, I’ll quit watching it. So, I always get excited for the new ones.
And this year, comedy is the trend. Everyone is in a slump because the economy is bad, so why not try to make them feel a little better and make them laugh? Fine with me. I am more of a comedy person anyway.
So let me show you what I’m looking forward to this fall.
I’ll start with NBC (since I work for an NBC station). I’m not going to lie, when it comes to TV shows, I normally watch ABC, but I’m really excited about having this show on our network:

“Community” premieres Thursday, September 17th at 9:30 on NBC.
NBC describes the show as “a smart comedy series about a band of misfits who attend Greendale Community College. At the center of the group is Jeff Winger (Joel McHale, “The Soup”), a fast-talkin’ lawyer whose degree has been revoked. With some help from his fellow classmates, Winger forms a study group who eventually learn more about themselves than their course work.”
And who doesn’t love a show with Chevy Chase? Yes, if you haven’t seen him in a while, he’s the one in the picture with the white hair. Also, love Joel McHale. If he’s half as funny here as he is on “The Soup”, it’ll be a success.
ABC has a slew of shows that I’m looking forward to.

“Cougar Town”is the one I’m looking forward to the most. It starts Wednesday, September 23rd at 9:30. I absolutely love Courtney Cox. And the blonde on the right, was in Dawson’s Creek. Pumped to see what she can do in a comedy.
ABS says this about the show: “Can a woman of a certain age be a mom, a successful career woman and still be on the prowl? Jules Cobb (Courteney Cox) is about to give it a try.
In a small Florida town, the center of high society is the Cougars high school football team… which is wildly appropriate since this town is the natural habitat for over-tanned, under-dressed divorcées prowling for younger men. Jules desperately doesn’t want to be one of them, but with an ugly divorce behind her and 40 staring right back at her, she’s longing for a little more action in her life. The available men her own age, like her silver fox of a neighbor, Grayson Ellis, only seem interested in dating barely legal hotties. Egged on by her very married and very irreverent best friend Ellie and her determined assistant Laurie, Jules reluctantly dips her toe back into the dating pool. To her surprise, she hits it off with a nice young guy named Matt — emphasis on the young — and discovers this gal still has the goods.”
I just found out tonight that there is a new witch show starting on ABC.

“Eastwick” is going to be on Wednesdays at 10.
ABC says, “In the seaside village of Eastwick, three very different women are about to discover some bewitching talents they never knew they had. And once they get together– watch out. Something wicked is coming their way.
Eastwick will be turned upside down as these enchanting women come into their own. Although bad for a few locals, it’s still the best thing to happen to this small New England town in centuries.
Based on John Updike’s celebrated best-seller and the popular movie, Eastwick is brimming with romance, mystery and dangerous charm, offering a tempting vision of the ultimate wish-fulfillment fantasy.”
Rebecca Romijn is in the show… gotta love her! Even though I’ve never really watched a “witch” show other than Sabrina, I’ve always been fascinated about witch stories. We’ll see if this can keep my attention.
And finally, I’m looking forward to “The Middle”.

I saw a preview for this earlier this week and laughed my butt off. The little guy was patting on some woman’s boob. Don’t ask me why, but it was hilarious. Maybe because it was extremely awkward.
ABC says, “Frankie and her husband, Mike, have lived in Orson, Indiana their whole lives. A man of few words (every one a zinger), Mike is a manager at the town quarry and Frankie is the third-best used car salesman (out of the three) at the local dealership. She may not be a high-powered career woman, but when it comes to her family, she’ll go to just about any length. And with kids like these, she had better. There’s Axl, her semi-nudist teenage son conceived with Guns N’ Roses playing a significant role; Sue, the awkward teenage daughter who fails at everything with great gusto; and their seven-year-old son Brick, whose best friend is his back-pack.”
“The Middle” will be on Wednesdays at 8:30.
And you can’t forget my other loves:
“Grey’s Anatomy” starts Thursday, September 24th at 9.
“Desperate Housewives” starts Sunday, September 27th at 9.
“90210″ starts September 8th at 8. Click here to watch the trailer!
Hope you all find a show or two you like! And click on the links to watch this season’s promos
Perez Expands His Online Empire
So if you haven’t heard of Perez Hilton by now, you either 1. Aren’t a celeb fan, 2. Are a single guy, 3. Have been living under a rock.

Courtesy: Zimbio.com
Whether you like him or not doesn’t make a difference. He is obviously doing something right because in the last 5 years, he’s started two websites.
Mario Lavendeira started PaegSixSixSix (what is now known as PerezHilton.com) in 2004 and by March of 2005, was named “Hollywood’s Most Hated Website”. With a name like 6-6-6 who woulda thunked?
Now, Perez claims his website sees over 8 million hits a day. Who doesn’t love a little celeb gossip?
I started reading Perez when I was in college. I loved me some gossip. Since then, I’ve strayed and started reading TMZ.com, primarily because we air TMZ after my 10pm newscast, so if something huge is going on, I can tease it. I still check Perez, but must have been out of the loop.
Today on Twitter, he mentioned cocoperez.com . WHAT IS THIS? I checked it out and it’s the newest addition to the Perez celeb empire.
When you think of Coco, you may think of two things: 1. Hot chocolate or 2. Probably more often than 1, Coco Chanel. If you put two and two together, cocoperez.com is a celeb fashion website.
I checked it out once I got into work and it’s pretty much “Fashionita Perez”. It covers all of the same celebs, but all of the posts are dealing with fashion. Everything from the newest celeb photo shoots to an update on “The Price of Beauty”, Jessica Simpson’s new show.
Yes, I know that Perez can be quite offensive, and I don’t agree with everything he writes, but if you don’t like it, don’t read it. We all have our opnions, I’m sure if some of the authors of the books I’ve read, read my blog, they may be offended. I don’t like everything I read.
OK – enough defending. Check out the new website and let me know what you think!!!
